Help your child walk into their Music Aptitude Test feeling confident, prepared and ready to listen.
The Music Aptitude Test (MAT) is used by a number of secondary schools in London and across the UK as part of their admissions process for music aptitude places. Rather than testing how advanced a child is on an instrument, the MAT is designed to assess their natural musical aptitude and listening skills.
With an ARSM Diploma in Music Teaching and extensive experience teaching music and aural skills, I offer friendly, focused MAT preparation that helps young musicians become familiar with the test, strengthen their aural skills and know what to expect on the day.
Sessions are tailored to each student, identifying their individual strengths and focusing on the areas they find most challenging, with plenty of practice using MAT-style questions.
MAT Prep Package - £210
4 × 45-minute prep in for Stage 1
PLUS
1 × 60-minute Stage 2 preparation session if your child progresses to the second stage.
We’ll work on the core listening skills needed for Stage 1, build confidence with MAT-style questions and develop strategies for approaching unfamiliar musical material.
If your child progresses to Stage 2, their final session will then focus specifically on the classroom activities in Stage 2.
